Cleantech jobs: Ohio to L.A.

I’m from Ohio. In Ohio, we don’t have as many jobs as we used to.

It’s a Rustbelt thing.

 You Know About the Rustbelt?

If you’re in one o’ them big ol’ cities like I am nowadays, like Los Angeles or San Francisco, you might not know what “Rustbelt” is.

During the industrial age, you couldn’t walk down the street without running into an employed person. Now, uh, you probably could.

Anyway, in Ohio, there aren’t as many working-class jobs as there used to be. The cities that were built up to wine, dine and entertain the throng of employed people are now dilapidated and falling apart rusty.

Growing up there, I loved the place but also knew something was missing from the downtown areas. It was life. Life was missing.

There were few lights in the windows and people on just the one street downtown with a few bars.

I’ve always wanted to fix this problem. I see a way now.

Ohio Rusbelt city needs cleantech jobs

While the industrial age is wrapping up, there are new opportunities to explore.

New technologies that offer cleaner ways to make the energy we need for our growing population.

That’s another thing, we have fewer jobs and more people.

There’s no going back. We can’t pretend we’re still in the past or pine for the good ol’ days. We have to adapt, move forward and innovate.

Renewable energy and cleantech, such as solar and wind power, offer new, virtually untapped potential for job creation.

Cleantech is a Jobs Machine

In fact, solar created more jobs than any other sector and 17 times faster than anywhere else in the U.S. economy in 2016.

Solar is taking a hit with the tariffs, but as someone who loves learning about the stock market, and business in general, my money’s on a dip followed by a climb.

It’s a natural part of doing business, and living life. There will be setbacks and then triumphs.

The key is that we keep taking action. We lose only if we quit.
